I did this one in WVU colors.  I really like the way it turned out.

Loving the Pattern

 

I worked on a this Lion Brand pattern-Tea in the Parlor.  It was to be worked in homespun but I had this Jiffy Thick and Quick so I used it!  I love the way it looked and this one will be going to a teenager.  Hope they like the bright colors.  It is triangular and a little lacy. 

 

I really liked the way the way the pattern finished up with this love loops of crochet.  I had to buy a big crochet hook to do it but I like that it combines knitting and crocheting!  I love that it didn't have to be fringed.  Not big on fringing things!

 

 

 

Self Fringing

Tired a new thing with the self fringing shawl pattern.  I did not cut the fringe but left it in loops.  I think I like it.

Today we  dedicated 15 prayer shawls at church!  It was wonderful to see the colors.  I pray that we will get them delivered soon and that we  can continue.  This is 99 we have given as a church not counting the baby blankets that have gone to new born babies who are baptized.

 

 



MORE ABOUT PRAYER SHAWLS

 

 

I find inspiration for patterns on the internet and in books published about prayer shawls.  A shawl does  not have to done in a specific design it can be any pattern or style that you prefer. 

This is a self fringing shawl that I had heard about but had never seen the pattern for.  So I researched it and off I went knitting away merrily.  It was fun and easy.  The hardest part for me was unraveling the 5 stitches that are cut and then made into the fringe.  The purl side is the correct side and it has a self rolling collar.

 Fringe is often put on a shawl but I confess that I hate making fringe so I often leave the shawls I make fringeless or put a small border on the bottom.

This is a sample of what I call my mindless shawl. 60-66 stiches and knit away until it is the correct length usually about 60 inches for mine.  The first has a  small crochet loop on the bottom.  The bottom photo is simply a plain shawl with no fringe.

Prayer shawls are a way I share my love of knitting and crocheting and a calling I feel I have. 

I wanted to l find a way to send love to my sister who was beginning chemo for colon cancer.  The prayer shawl ministry helped me to feel as though I was there to help her through that time when I could not physically be there.

I find that making them helps me forget my pain and allows me to help others.
